Moore, Richard Channing

protestant episcopal bishop, was born Aug. 21, 1762, in New York city. He accepted a call to St. Andrew's, Richmond, Staten Island, N. Y., which he held for twenty-one years.

He received the degree of D. D. from Dartmouth in 1805.

In1808 he was a clerical deputy to the general convention of his church in Baltimore, Md., and was chairman of the committee on additions to its hymnal. In 1809 he accepted the rectorship of St.

Stephen's, New York city, where he remained for five years. He was consecrated bishop of Virginia in 1814. He died Nov. 11, 1841, in New York city.
