Moody, Zenas F
soldier, surveyor, merchant, state legislator, governor, was born May 27, 1832, in Granby, Mass. He settled in Oregon in 1851; was a surveyor; and in 1856 was appointed government inspector of the United States surveys in California. For many years he was a mail contractor between The Dalles and Portland. In 1880 he was elected a member of the state legislature; and was speaker of the house the following session. In 1882 he was elected governor of Oregon, and served for four years.
