soldier, lawyer, jurist, state senator, was born Feb. 6, 1811, in Mercer, Pa. In 1865 he received the brevet of brigadier-general for meritorious service at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh. He was in the Missouri senate in 1865, and since 1867 has been fund commissioner of the Missouri railroad. a MILLER, MRS. MINNIE [WILLIS] [BAINES], author, was born in 1845 in New Hampshire. She is a religious writer of Springfield, Ohio; and the author of The Silent Land; His Cousin, the Doctor; and The Pilgrim Vision.
