Mcdowell, John Hugh

farmer, editor, legislator, was born Dec. 12, 1843, in Trenton, Tenn. He received a liberal education, and has been principally engaged in farming at Union City, Tenn. He has been a member of the lower house of the general assembly of Tennessee for two terms; and has served with distinction as a member of the state senate. He has been president of the State Farmers' Alliance, and vice-president of the National Farmers' Alliance. He is a prominent member of the people's party, and served as chairman of the state committee. For eight years he was engaged in editorial work; and has contributed extensively to the periodical press.
