Mcbride, George W
merchant, lawyer, United States senator, was born March 13, 1854, in Yamhill county, Ore.
He was elected a member of the house of representatives of the legislative assembly of Oregon in 1882; and was elected speaker of the house. He was elected secretary of state in 1886; was re-elected in 1890 and served eight years, his second term ending in 1895. He was elected United States senator as a republican Feb. 23, 1895. His term of service will expire March 3, 1901.
