Mayo, Robert M

soldier, congressman, was born April 28, 1836, in Westmoreland county, Va. He was a colonel in the confederate army during the civil war; was elected a representative in the state legislature in 1881; and was elected a representative from Virginia to the forty-eighth congress. MAYO, MRS. SARAH CARTER [ED- GARTON], author, poet, was born March 17, 1819, in Shirley, Mass. She was the author of The Palfreys; Ellen Clifford; and several compilations of poetry and prose. She died July 9, 1848, in Gloucester, Mass.
