Mallory, Rufus
lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born June 10, 1831, in Coventry county, N. Y. In 1858 he settled in Oregon; and was elected prosecuting attorney for the first judicial district. In 1862 he was elected to the state legislature; and after serving one session was appointed prosecuting attorney for the third judicial district, which office he held until 1866. In that year he was elected a representative from Oregon to the fortieth congress. In 1892 he was president of the republican state convention of Portland, Ore., in which city he practices law.
