Maclay, William Brown

educator, journalist, lawyer, state legislator, congressman, was born March 20, 1812, in New York city.

In 1836 he was associate editor of the New York Quarterly Magazine; and was an active member of the legislature of New York for several years. He was elected a representative in congress from that state in 1843; and was reelected in 1845 and 1847, and again elected in 1857. He was re-elected a representative to the thirtysixth congress. He died Feb. 19, 1882, ın New York city, N. Y.
