Littlejohn, John Martin
educator, college president, was born Feb. 15, 1867, in Glasgow, Scotland. He entered the Glasgow university, where he secured a prize for excellence in mental philosophy. In 1886 he was ordained as a minister, and in 1892 became university fellow in the Columbian university. In the summer of 1893 he visited the libraries of England and the continent for the purpose of investigating medieval literature; and in 1894 was elected to the presidency of Amity college, Iowa, where he has since labored with much zeal and success. During 1892-96 he was department editor of the Christian Nation of New York city; and is the author of numerous educational and scientific works.
