Lester, Charles Edwards
journalist, lecturer, author, was born July 15, 1815, in Griswold, Conn. He was a journalist and littérateur of New York city, at one time consul at Genoa. He was the author of Life of Vespucius; The Napoleon Dynasty; Artists of America; The Glory and Shame of England; My Consulship; Condition and Fate of England; Samuel Houston and His Republic; Life of Charles Sumner; Our One Hundred Years; America's Advancement; The Mexican Republic; History of the United States; and Stanhope Burleigh, a novel; with several translations of standard Italian authors. He died in 1890.
