Hawley, James A

educator, financier, was born Aug. 20, 1830, in Webster, N. Y. He has been superintendent of schools of Lee county, Ill., and for twenty-one years was clerk of the same county. He was president of the board of education of Dixon, Ill., and president and cashier of the Dixon National bank.

He is a thirty-three degree Mason, and an active member of the supreme council for the northern jurisdiction of America. He is now the secretary and treasurer of the Dixon Water company..
