Lefever, Jacob
banker, congressman, was born April 20, 1830, in New Paltz, N. Y. He was a member of the assembly of the state of New York in 1863-67; and was frequently a delegate to republican state conventions and was a delegate to the national republican convention of 1888. He is president of the Huguenot National bank of New Paltz; and vice-president of the New Paltz Savings bank. He was elected to the fiftythird and fifty-fourth congresses as a republican. LE FEVRE, BENJAMIN, soldier, state senator, congressman, was born Oct. 8, 1838, in Shelby county, Ohio. He served in the union army from 1861 to 1865; and was elected a member of the state house of representatives in 1865. In 1867 he was appointed United States consul at Nuremberg, Germany; and was elected a representative from Ohio to the forty-sixth, forty-seventh, forty-eighth and fortyninth congresses as a democrat.
