Leake, Shelton F
lawyer, congressman, was born Nov. 30, 1812, in Albemarle county, Va. In 1842 he was elected to the Virginia house of delegates; and was a representative in congress from Virginia from 1845 to 1847. He was a presidential elector in 1849; in 1851 was elected lieutenant-governor of Virginia; and was a candidate for governor in 1854, but was defeated. In 1859 he was elected to the federal house of representatives for the thirty-sixth congress. He took part in the rebellion.
