Lawson, John W
soldier, physician, surgeon, state senator, congressman, was born Sept. 13, 1837, in James City county, Va. He enlisted as a private soldier in the thirty-second regiment Virginia infantry. He then entered the medical department Confederate States of America; and served as surgeon in charge of artillery battalion. He was elected to the house of delegates, and re-elected a second term. He was elected to the Virginia state senate and served four years; and was elected to the fifty-second congress as a democrat.
