Lafonte, Aunet
educator, clergyman, was born Oct. 2, 1812, in France. He founded the French congregation in Canal street, New York, in 1842; introduced into this country the order of Christian Brothers; and harbored the first Jesuits that came to the United States. died Jan. 7, 1875, in New York city.
He LA FORTUNE, JOHN SAMUEL, journalist, poet, was born Aug. 22, 1862, in Elk Creek, Neb. In 1887 he became editor and proprietor of The Tulare Democratic Free Press. He is also the author of a number of poems.
