Kimball, Charles Hazen

lawyer, legislator, railroad president, was born Jan. 1, 1846, in Carthage, N. Y. He received the rudiments of his education in the common schools, attended Rome academy; and subsequently graduated from the St. Lawrence university of Canton, N.

Y., and from the Albany Law school.

During the civil war he served with distinction as first lieutenant of the fortythird regiment, United States colored infantry. He is one of the most prominent lawyers of the west, and for eight years served as a state senator in the Kansas legislature. He has been president of the Parsons and Pacific Railroad company; president of the Kansas City and Pacific Railroad company; president of the Parsons Water company; president of the Parsons Crystal Ice company; president of the Parsons Telephone company; president of the Kansas City and Pacific Telegraph company; and president of the Badger Mining and Milling company of Denver.
