Keyes, John Arnold
lawyer, legislator, was born June 23, 1859, in Chelsea, Vt. He attended the Chelsea academy; studied law, and in 1884 was admitted to the bar by the supreme court of Vermont.
In 1885 he moved to Winona, Minn.; and in 1889-91 was elected and served with distinction as a member of the Minnesota state legislature. In 1892 he moved to Duluth; was a candidate for attorneygeneral of Minnesota in 1894, and in 1896 on the silver ticket. He is one of the foremost lawyers of Minnesota, and has a lucrative practice in Duluth. KEYL, ERNST GERHARD WILHELM, clergyman, author, was born May 22, 1804, in Germany. For many years he was president of the eastern district of the Missouri synod, of which he was a founder. He was the author of Lutherophilus; and various other works. He died Aug. 4, 1872, in Monroe, Mich.
