Jett, Thomas M

lawyer, congressman, was born May 1, 1862, in Bedford county, Ill. He attended the common schools of the counties of Bond and Montgomery; two years at the Northern Indiana Normal school, Valparaiso, Ind.; taught school for three terms, read law with Judge Phillips of Hillsboro, Ill., and was admitted to practice in May, 1887.

He was elected state's attorney of Montgomery county, Ill., in 1889, and served two terms, covering a period of about eight years. He was elected to the fifty-fifth congress as a democrat.
