How, Samuel Blanchard
clergyman, college president, author, was born Oct. 14, 1790, in Burlington, N. J. In 1823 he became pastor of the Independent church in Savannah, Ga., whence he was called in 1830 to the presidency of Dickinson college, Pennsylvania. In 1832 he became pastor of the First Reformed Dutch church of New Brunswick, N. J., continuing in this charge until failing health induced his resignation in 1861. He published a volume entitled Slaveholding not Sinful. He died Feb. 29, 1868, in New Brunswick, N. J.
