House, John F
soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Jan. 9, 1827, in Williamson county, Tenn. He was elected a member of the state legislature in 1853; was a presidential elector in 1860; and in 1861 was a member of the provisional congress of confederate states. He entered the southern army and remained until the close of the war. He was a member of the house of the Tennessee constitutional convention of 1870; and was elected a representative from Tennessee to the fortyfourth, forty-fifth, forty-sixth, and fortyseventh congresses as a democrat.
