Hill, Joshua

lawyer, congressman, United States senator, was born Jan. 10, 1812, in Abbeville district, S. C. He was elected a representative to the thirtyfifth congress from Georgia; and was reelected to the thirtysixth congress. In 1866 he was appointed collector for the port of Savannah. In 1876 he was appointed a visitor to the West Point academy, as well as a register in bankruptcy; and in 1868 was elected a senator in congress for the term ending in 1873.

He died March 6, 1891, in Madison, Ga.
