Herndon, Thomas H

soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born July 1, 1828, in Hale county, Ala. He was elected a representative in the state legislature in 1857 and 1858. He was a member of the state secession convention of 1861; and entered the confederate army and rose to the rank of colonel. He was a member of the state constitutional convention of 1875; and was again in the legislature in 1876 and 1877. He was elected a representative from Alabama to the forty-sixth congress; and re-elected to the fortyseventh and forty-eighth congresses as a democrat. He died March 28, 1883, in Mobile, Ala.
