Henry, William Wirt
soldier, merchant, was born Nov. 21, 1831, in Waterbury, Vt. He received the rudiments of his education in the public schools of his native city; and then attended the People's academy of Morrisville, Vt. During the war he served with distinction in the union corps; and was rapidly promoted to first lieutenant, major, lieutenant-colonel, colonel, brevet brigadier-general. He has served as United States marshal; immigrant inspector; and various other public positions of trust. He is a successful druggist of Burlington, Vt.; and president of the Society of the Army of the Potomac.
