Henderson, Thomas J

soldier, lawyer, congressman, was born Nov. 29 , 1824, in Brownsville, Tenn. In 1854 he was elected to the Illinois state legislature; and in 1856 was chosen a senator, serving four years. He was brevetted a brigadier-general in 1865 for services in Georgia and Tennessee. In 1874 he was elected a representative from Illinois to the forty-fourth congress. He was rewas reelected to the forty-fifth, forty-sixth, forty-seventh, forty-eighth, forty-ninth, fiftieth, fifty-first, fifty-second and fiftythird congresses as a republican.
