Harlow, Amos Rogers

manufacturer, public official, was born April 23, 1815, in Shrewsbury, Mass. He is a direct lineal descendant of Capt. William Harlow, who came to the Plymouth colony in 1642. For fifteen years he was engaged in the manufacture of woolen machinery, and in 1849 organized the Marquette Iron company; operated the first sawmill in Marquette, and was the first postmaster of that city. He filled numerous public offices of trust in his city and county, and died Oct. 3, 1890.
