Greene, Millen Sanford

educator; business man, poet, was born Dec. 23, 1825, in North Stonington, Conn. He received his education in the common schools of his native county; engaged in agricultural pursuits; and for six years went to sea as a sailor. He attained success in educational work, which he followed twelve years. He then entered counting room; and for a since 1869 has been engaged in the insurance and real estate business in Westerly, R. I. Early in life he developed a taste for poetry and music; and is the author of a series of Fireside Stories in verse, with sketches of social chat.
