Grady, Benjamin F
soldier, educator, congressman, was born Oct. 10, 1831, in Dublin county, N. C. He was elected professor of mathematics and natural sciences in Austin college. He remained in Austin college till he enlisted in a Texas confederate regiment. He located in North Carolina at the close of the war. He was superintendent of public schools of Dublin county from 1881 to 1888, and justice of the peace from 1879 to 1890. He was one of the trustees of the North Carolina State university from 1873 to 1890; and was elected to the fifty-second and re-elected to the fifty-third congress as a democrat.
