Gowan, Albert W
soldier, lawyer, state senator, was born May 16, 1846, in Rushford, N. Y. During the civil war he enlisted in battery M, first regiment United States artillery, and served three years. In 1871 he moved to Osborne county, Kan., and helped to organize that county, and in 1881 was its representative in the Kansas state legislature. In 1882 he moved to Oregon and in 1890 settled in Burns, where he is engaged in the practice of law. During 1893-96 he was captain of troop A of the Oregon National Guard.
