Ferry, Thomas White

congressman, United States senator, was born June 1, 1827, in Mackinaw, Mich. He was elected to the state legislature and to the state senate in 1856.

In 1864 he was elected a representative from Michigan to the conthirty ninth congress; was re-elected to the fortieth, fortyfirst and forty-second congresses, but did not take his seat in the latter, as he was chosen a sena- 2 tor in congress for the term ending in 1877, and was re-elected senator for the term ending in 1883.
