Fairbanks, Horace
manufacturer, state senator, governor, was born March 21, 1820, in Barnet, Vt. In 1825 he removed with his father's family to St. Johnsbury, Vt., and became president of the E. and T. Fairbanks Scale company.
He was a presidential elector in 1868; a state senator in 1869; and a delegate to the republican national conventions of 1864 and 1872. In 1876 he was elected governor of Vermont and served two years. He died March 18, 1888, in New York city.
