Ellsworth, Samuel S

congressman, was born in Vermont. He was a member of the New York assembly in 1840; and was a representative in congress from that state from 1845 to 1847. ELLSWORTH, WILLIAM WOLCOTT, lawyer, jurist, congressman, governor, was born Nov. 10, 1791, in Windsor county, Conn. He was professor of law in Trinity college; and was a representative in congress from Connecticut from 1829 to 1833. In 1838 he was elected governor of Connecticut, and re-elected for four years; and was a judge of the supreme court of Connecticut for many years. He died Jan. 15, 1868, in Hartford, Conn.
