Dunlap, William
dramatist, artist, author, was born in 1766 in Perth Amboy, N. J. He was a prominent artist, dramatist, and theatrical manager of New York city. He is the author of Life of George Frederick Cooke; Life of Charles Brockden Brown; The American Theater; History of New York; History, Rise, and Progress of the Arts of Design in the United States; Thirty Years Ago, a novel; New Netherlands, Province of New York; The Father, a comedy; and Leicester, a tragedy. He died Sept. 28, 1839, in New York city.
