Dunbar, William S
soldier, physician, legislator, was born Nov. 18, 1823, in Fincastle, Va. He served as captain of company H, eighth regiment West Virginia infantry, in the union army. In 1863 he was a member of the house of delegates of West Virginia, and in 1864-65 was a member of the state senate. He made a great stand against secession; and took a company of forty well-armed men outside of the rebel line, held elections and elected delegates to the constitutional convention, and helped to divide the state of Virginia, and formed the state of West Virginia. He has been successful as a physician, and now resides in Clear Creek, W. Va.
