Davis, Samuel Post
journalist, was born April 4, 1850, in Branford, Conn.
He attended the common schools and graduated from the Racine college, Wisconsin. He began his literary career as a humorous writer; wrote for the New York Sun, Chicago Times, San Francisco Examiner, New York Journal, and other prominent newspapers. He was the first writer to advocate the formation of a political party having for its platform the principles of bimetallism solely, and he is the author of several essays on that subject. In 1896 he was a member of the St. Louis bimetallic convention. He is the editor and owner of the Carson Appeal, of Carson City, Nev., and the author of a volume of Short Stories.
