Cruger, John
colonist, was born July 18, 1710, in New York city. He was an alderman for twenty-two years, and in 1739-44 was mayor of the city of New York. He was the author of the famous Declaration of the Rights and Grievances of the Colonist of America; and in 1768 was elected the first president of the New York Chamber of Commerce. He died Dec. 27, 1792, in New York city.
