Clark, William B

president of the Ætna Fire Insurance company of Hartford, Conn., was born June 29, 1841, in Hartford, Conn. For many years he was connected with the Hartford Courant, of which his father was the proprietor. In 1857 he became a clerk with the Phoenix Fire Insurance company; was elected secretary in 1863; and after serving that company for twenty-five years he became assistant secretary of the Ætna. In 1888 he was made vice-president, and in 1892 became president. He holds a prominent and important place in the business affairs of Hartford, and has filled numerous offices of honor.
