Cook, Albert John
naturalist, author, was born Aug. 30, 1842, in Owasso, Mich. He was a professor of zoölogy at Michigan Agricultural college, and the author of Injurious Insects of Michigan; and Manual of the Apiary.
COOK, ALBERT STANBURROUGH, educator, author, was born March 6, 1853, in Montville, N. J. In 1879-81 he was associate in English in the Johns Hopkins university; was professor of English language and literature in the university of California during 1882-89, and since 1889 has filled the same chair in the Yale university of New Haven, Conn. In 1897 he became president of the Modern Language association of America. He has edited Siever's Old English Grammar; Judith, an Old English Epic Fragment; and Sidney's Defence of Poesy.
