Cole, Cordelia Throop

prohibitionist, was born Nov. 17, 1833, in Hamilton, N. Y. She attended the Hamilton academy, now known as the Colgate seminary. For five years she was engaged in educational work in the Collegiate institute of Keokuk, Iowa; and the North Illinois institute of Henry, Ill. For seven years she was secretary of the Iowa Unitarian association; nine years state and national superintendent of the Purity department of the W. C. T. U., and lecturer on White Cross and Social Purity, and speaker for Total Abstinence and Prohibition for more than twenty years. She is also one of the managing editors of the Dial of Progress of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
