Cogswell, Frederick Hill

lawyer, author, was born March 11, 1859, in New Preston, Conn. He attended the Connecticut Literary institution of Suffield; took a special course of studies in the Yale university; and graduated from the university of Michigan. Since 1884 he has been official reporter of the superior court at New Haven, Conn. He has written numerous short stories for leading magazines. In 1884 he published Cogswell's Compendium of Phonography; and is the author of The Regicides, an historical novel; and a second novel entitled Newgate. He has also lectured extensively on historical and literary subjects.
