Claggett, Thomas John
bishop, George county, Md. He was elected the author, was born Oct. 2, 1742, in Prince first bishop of Maryland, and was consecrated in New York, Sept. 17, 1792, Bishop Seabury joining in the consecration. In 1800 Bishop Claggett was chaplain to the United States senate, this being the first session of congress held in Washington regiment of the Maine cavalry, and be-city. He died Aug. 2, 1816, in Croom, Md. came captain, major, colonel, and brevet brigadier-general. He served as a member of the Maine state legislature, and in 1876-78 was adjutant-general of Maine.
He is the author of a genealogy of the Cilley family.
