CATHERWOOD, MRS. MARY [HART- WELL], author, was born Dec. 16, 1847, in Luray, Ohio. She is a writer of Hoopeston, Ill., whose historical romances dealing with the early days of Canada and the northwest are as notable for their careful attention to historical details as for their graphic and picturesque style. She is the author of A Woman in Armour; The Lady of Fort St. John; and The Romance of Dollard.
