Austin, Harriet Bunker

author, poet, was born Dec. 29, 1844, in Erie, Pa.

Her great-grandfather, Benjamin Bunker, was a soldier of the revolution, and was killed in the battle of Bunker Hill. The hill from which the battle was named comprised part of the Bunker estate. She received her education in the Woodstock High school and Dr. Todd's Female seminary. She has been a prolific writer; and many of her poems have been set to music. She is the wife of Mr. W. B.

Austin, a prosperous merchant of Woodstock, Ill., in which city she lends her influence to every reform.
