Arthur, Jesse

lawyer, jurist, was born Jan. 14, 1846, in Kershaw county, S. C. He attended a private school until September, 1863, when he entered the confederate army, and served through the He was made prisoner in front of Richmond on Aug. 15, 1864; and was released in March of the following year. In 1889 he moved to Washington territory, attained prominence as an able lawyer; and in 1892 was elected superior court judge of the state of Washington for Spokane county, which position he still holds.
