Adams, Louise Catherine

the wife of John Quincy Adams, was born Feb. 11, 1775, in London, England. She was the daughter of Joshua Johnson of Maryland, but passed her early years in England and in France. She was married to Mr. Adams July 26, 1797, in London. She was possessed of high intellectual qualities; well versed in both French and English literature: translated from the French; was the author of a number of meritorious poems; and was an accomplished musician and vocalist.

She died May 14, 1852, and was buried by the side of her husband in the family burying ground at Quincy, Mass.
