Zeisberger, David
missionary, author, was born April 11, 1721, in Moravia. He was a noted missionary of the Moravians in Pennsylvania and Ohio; and the author of Delaware and English Spelling- Book; Sermons for Children; Dictionary in German and Delaware; and Essay Toward an Onondaga Grammar. In 1888 his Diary from 1781 to 1798, including the narrative of his eventful life among the Indians of Ohio, was translated from the original manuscript in German by Eugene Bliss, and for the first time published.
He died Nov. 17, 1808, in Goshen, Ohio.
