Woodward, Frank R
manufacturer, inventor, legislator, was born Feb. 9, 1845, in Salisbury, N. H. He received his education in the district schools and at the Noyes academy. In 1868 he moved to Manchester, and became superintendent of the Forsaith Latch Needle factory, which business he purchased in 1870, and two years later moved it to the town of Hill. The following year he sold out the needle business and engaged in the manufacture of glass cutters and other light hardware, for which a world-wide reputation has been established. He has done much to advance the prosperity of his city; gave them Pleasant Hill cemetery, and built a system of waterworks. In 1884 he was chosen a representative in the New Hampshire state legislature, which he resigned a year later to accept the position of postmaster.
