Wingard, Samuel Cyrus
lawyer, jurist, state legislator, was born Aug. 6, 1825, in Huntingdon county, Pa. He served two terms as a representative in the Pennsylvania state legislature. He moved to Washington territory in 1870; and in 1872 was appointed United States attorney for that territory. In 1875 he was appointed an associate justice of the supreme court of the territory, and continued in that position by reappointment. WINGATE, CHARLES EDWARD LEWIS, journalist, author, was born in 1861 in New Hampshire. He was a Boston journalist; and the author of Shakespeare's Heroines on the Stage. WINGATE, CHARLES FREDERICK, civil engineer, author, was born March 5, 1847, in New York city. He was a sanitary engineer of New York city; and the author of Views and Interviews on Journalism; Plumbing and House Drainage; and Twilight Tracts.
