Wells, William Harvey

educator, author, was born Feb. 27, 1812, in Tolland, Conn. He was an educator of Chicago, superintendent of the city public schools, in 1856-64; and the author of Historical Authorship of English Grammar; and several popular text-books on English Grammar. He died Jan. 21, 1885, in Chicago, Ill.

WELLS WILLIAM HILL, United States senator, was born about 1760, in Pennsylvania. He was a senator in congress from Delaware from 1799 to 1804, when he resigned; and was again a United States senator from 1813 to 1817.

He died March 11, 1829, in Millsborough, Del.
