Wauchope, Samuel

soldier, public official, was born March 10, 1783, in Lexington, Va. He was a soldier in the war of 1812, in which he was also paymaster.

He was elected commissioner of revenue; was high sheriff of his county; and died in 1854.

WAUCHOPE, SAMUEL AUGUSTINE, physician, surgeon, was born June 28, 1822, in Rockbridge county, Va. He attended the Washington and Lee university, and the university of New York city. He taught school until he graduated in medicine; practiced in his native state for a number of years, when he moved to Georgia, where he attained success in his profession and became one of the leading physicians and surgeons of that state. He now resides in Tallahassee, Fla.
