Warner, Vespasian
soldier, lawyer, jurist, congressman, was born April 23, 1842, in Mt. Pleasant (now Farmer City), Ill. In 1861 he enlisted as a private soldier in company E, twentieth Illinois volunteer infantry. In 1862 he was commissioned a second lieutenant; mained in the service until 1866, when he was mustered out, then being a captain and brevet major. He was colonel and judge advocate-general of Illinois; and elected a republican presidential elector in 1888. He was elected to the fifty-fourth and fifty-fifth congresses as a republican. was
